Questions We Get Asked Most
Straight answers about how we work, what things cost and what Colorado requires. If your question is about a specific service, the answer is probably on that service page.
Getting Started
How do I know if I even need you?
Send us photos and tell us what the building is and roughly when it was built. We will tell you whether it looks like something that needs testing, something that needs removal, or something you can leave alone. That conversation is free and it does not turn into a sales call.
Do you charge for an estimate?
No. We come out, walk the property, review whatever documentation you have, and give you a number. There is no charge and no obligation.
How soon can you come out?
Usually within a few days for an estimate. Emergency situations are handled the day you call.
What do you need from me before you can quote it?
The address, what the material is if you know, and roughly how much of it there is. Photos help more than descriptions. If you already have a survey or a test result, send that and we can often quote from it without a visit.
Cost and Payment
Why is there a minimum charge on small jobs?
Because most of the cost is setup, not size. Containment, negative air, protective equipment and disposal cost roughly the same in a single bathroom as they do in a full basement. A small job does not cost a small amount, and any contractor telling you otherwise is going to revise the number later.
What makes one job cost more than another?
The material, how much of it there is, and how hard it is to reach. A crawlspace costs more than a hallway for the same square footage. Occupied buildings cost more than empty ones because of scheduling and containment.
Do you take payment plans?
Ask us. We would rather work something out than have a property sit with a known hazard in it because of timing.
Will the estimate change once you start?
Only if the scope changes, and you will hear about it the day it happens, not on the invoice. Opening up a wall occasionally reveals more material than the survey showed. When that happens we stop and talk to you before continuing.
Working With Us
Who actually shows up?
Our own crew. We do not subcontract the work out to whoever is available that week.
Will I be able to reach someone during the job?
Yes. You will have a direct number for the crew lead on your project, not a general office line.
Do you work weekends and evenings?
Yes, and it is often the better option for occupied buildings and commercial spaces. Emergency work is answered any hour.
Do you speak Spanish?
Yes. Estimates, scheduling and on-site communication are available in English or Spanish.
Credentials and Compliance
What are you licensed for?
Westworth Environmental is a Colorado Licensed Asbestos Contractor and EPA certified, regulated by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. License number and certification details are listed in the footer of every page.
Are you insured?
Fully insured and bonded. We will send a certificate of insurance before work starts if your lender, property manager or general contractor requires one.
Why do you refuse to test and remediate the same job?
Because a company that diagnoses the problem and sells the fix has a reason to find more of it. On some services Colorado prohibits the arrangement outright. On the rest we hold ourselves to the same line, because a result is only worth something if the person who produced it had nothing to gain from it.
What documentation do I get when the job is done?
Scope of work, any required state filings, disposal records and clearance documentation where it applies. Everything a buyer, lender, adjuster or building department is likely to ask for.
Insurance and Real Estate
Do you work with insurance claims?
Yes. We prepare scope documentation for claims and coordinate directly with adjusters and restoration contractors.
I am selling and the inspection turned something up. How fast can this be handled?
Faster than most closing timelines, as long as you call as soon as it appears on the report. What kills deals is not the abatement, it is waiting two weeks to make the first call. Tell us your closing date on the first call and we will tell you honestly whether it is achievable.
I am buying and the seller says it is handled. What should I ask for?
Ask for the documentation, not the reassurance. A completed project produces paperwork. If nobody can produce it, treat the work as unverified.
Does this have to be disclosed?
Colorado has disclosure requirements around known property conditions, and they are worth reviewing with your agent or attorney. We can tell you what work was performed and provide the records. We cannot advise you on what your disclosure obligations are.
Practical
Do I need to move out?
Usually not. The work area is sealed and kept under negative air so the rest of the property stays isolated. If the affected area includes something you cannot do without, we tell you before we start rather than after.
What about pets?
Keep them out of the work area and away from the entry route. For larger projects, boarding them for the day is easier on everyone, including the animal.
Do I need to empty the room first?
We will tell you what needs to come out during the estimate. Usually it is less than people expect.
What areas do you cover?
Denver, Aurora, Lakewood, Arvada, Westminster, Thornton, Centennial, Englewood, Littleton, Commerce City and the surrounding communities across Adams, Arapahoe, Denver, Douglas and Jefferson counties. Outside that area, call anyway and we will tell you whether we can take it.
Licensed, Certified and Insured
Asbestos abatement in Colorado is regulated by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. Contractors have to be certified, projects over certain thresholds have to be reported, and waste has to go to approved facilities under a documented chain of custody.
All of that applies to every job we take, on a nine hundred square foot condo the same as on a commercial building.

Still Have a Question?
Call and ask. We answer questions from people who never end up hiring us, and that is fine. It is a better use of everyone’s time than guessing.
